Morning Myth is the new collaborative music project of guitarist Ross King and singer Aimee Herbert-Smith (a.k.a. Mere Child). According to the band's website, it was a mutual admiration for Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, John Martyn, and Fleetwood Mac that brought this UK duo together at the start of 2018. Delivering a soothing, ethereal blend of acoustic dream/indie-pop, Morning Myth has already released two stunning singles ("Murmur" and "Blurred Lines & Mysteries") in their short time together.
"Murmur,", the duo's hazy, gentle-paced debut single, is laden with lush, dreamy vocals over a smooth acoustic musical accompaniment. I can't help but hear a bit of Carpenters influence (think "Yesterday Once More") in the tempo and musical atmosphere of this lovely, shimmery track.
In a musical style similar to Cocteau Twins and Slowdive, "Blurred Lines & Mysteries" is one of the warmest, ultra-polished, acoustic-driven songs I've heard. Aimee's lush vocals are beautifully layered atop this breezy musical gem with just the right amount of reverb vocal effect.
With only two officially-released songs under their belt, here's to hoping for more great songs from this impressive, talented duo! In the meantime, for more information about Morning Myth, visit the duo's official website, follow on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and find the band's music on Bandcamp, SoundCloud and Spotify.
