The Breeders | Wait in the Car (new single and video)

With a charged, steadily-strummed guitar riff and an exhilarating shout of "Good Morning!", iconic alt-rockers, The Breeders, are back. Charging head on into the indie musical scene, with the unbridled energy and unapologetic enthusiasm from where their critically-acclaimed album, Last Splash (1993), left off. The Breeders have definitely still got it! Their new single, "Wait in the Car," sounds like a natural sequel to their iconic hit, "Cannonball," and exudes the same raw emotion, fresh sound, and solid songwriting as found on the band's early releases (Pod (1990), Safari EP (1992), and Last Splash (1993)).

Originally formed in 1989 by Kim Deal (Pixies) and Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses), the band lineup has changed over the years (with Kim Deal being the band's sole constant), and spurred several side projects (The Amps and The Kelley Deal 6000) during a mid-1990's hiatus. The current incarnation reunites the Last Splash lineup of Kim Deal (vocals and guitar), Kelley Deal (guitar and vocals), Jim Macpherson (drums), and Josephine Wiggs (bass). The band sounds tight, polished, and truly spectacular.

UK indie record label, 4AD Records, is once again The Breeders' media vehicle, with iconic graphic designer Chris Bigg providing the the colorful, flashy artwork and imagery for the band's single and accompanying music video. The band is celebrating the physical release of "Wait in the Car" with a three-part limited edition vinyl single series, in which the A-side ("Wait in the Car") is backed with three different B-side cover songs: "Archangel's Thunderbird" (Amon Düül II), "Joanne" (Mike Mesmith), and "Gates of Steel" (Devo).

Listen to and watch the official music video for "Wait in the Car", directed by Chris Bigg and Martin Andersen, with original band images by Marisa Gesualdi. And don't be afraid to sing your own little "meow, meow, meow, meow, meow" along with Kim Deal!
