I treasure the unforgettable moment when you stumble upon a song that's so pure, unpretentious and catchy that you just want to share it with everyone. A case in point is the outstanding debut single, "Something's Got A Hold On Me," from Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Shanice Green. Running at just two and a half minutes, the song is a sweet blend of acoustic soul, blues, and folky pop, graced with Shanice's soulful, soothing vocals. The enchanting, uncluttered fusion of nothing but acoustic guitar and vocals is refreshing and powerful.
While comparisons to musicians such as India Arie, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Tracy Chapman may come to mind, Shanice credits artists such as Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson as her musical influences.
Shanice recently recorded a live performance of "Something's Got A Hold On Me" at American Sushi Recording Studio. Filmed by Chris Anthony Hamilton, the video nicely captures the charismatic, heartfelt vibe of this brilliant song. If you're as captivated as I am with this first taste of Shanice's music, then you are in luck - an upcoming EP release is planned for late Fall 2017.
